Calligraphy Qalam: An Introduction to Arabic, Persian and Ottoman Calligraphy uses interactive tools to interest new audiences in the traditional art forms of Arabic, Ottoman and Persian calligraphy.

The ivory pen-rest in this desk set is decorated with sunken panels of open work, one bearing the name 'Rasti' in nastaliq script. The pen knife has a watered-steel blade with a gilded stamp that reads 'Riza,' and a handle with a coral tip.
