Since the late 50s, there has been a general decline in the study and practice of Arabic calligraphy, and the reasons for this are many, but the fact is there are far fewer people who can practice this art now than there were 50 years ago. It is our generation that will revive it.

Many people have a desire to learn, but don't know where to start. Perhaps the biggest challenge facing students interested in learning Arabic calligraphy in North America is the availability of proper materials.

Over the past several months, with the help of several amazing people in Turkey, Iran, and elsewhere, I've managed to import a large array of calligraphy materials specifically created for use in Arabic and Islamic calligraphy.

This includes, but is not limited to, all manner of pens, from Kamish, to Bamboo, even Java reeds, as well as Iranian inks, hand-dyed papers, and a variety of other useful materials.

Thanks for looking and I hope you find the site helpful!

JoshBerer, I have been in communication with you through email. I think you are doing wonderful work. I am learning calligraphy by myself for three years now. It has been a pleasant, though very tough journey. I also had interactions with some of the calligraphers. But I have been pretty much told that I need to take this journey by myself. Insahllah I will make progress.
this website has also managed to bring a lot of enthusiasts and self learners together. I congratulate calligraphyqalam.com for this.
