I'm a writer and filmmaker with a passion for Arabic calligraphy. I have recently written a coffee-table book on the history of the art form called Finer Than a Hair, Sharper Than a Sword. I have a publisher who has paid for the photography and design of a beautiful book but we are looking for sponsors to pay for the printing. If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful to hear from you.

My company Two Seas TV also has a documentary series in development and we are looking for an Arabic speaking director who is available for about 6 months in 2011. Please see my website for more info.

    Hello Helen,
Welcome to the forum. That's great to hear about your book—I sincerely hope you are able to find someone to pay for the printing. Perhaps someone on this list will be able to help you out.

    Hi Elisabeth,

This is just a quick note to update you on the progress of the book. It is now available to download from Amazon!

Please recommend it to anyone who you think would like to read an in-depth account of the history and application of Arabic Calligraphy.

The TV series is now a feature-length documentary called Harf & Soul. Again you can find out more via my website.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Hi Helen,
Congratulations on the book! I just looked at the Amazon preview, which was mostly text; did you get to include many images as well?

I'm curious, what's your background with Arabic calligraphy? What inspired you to write a Kindle book?

I read a little bit about your documentary as well—will this be coming out soon? I couldn't find out much from your website, but it looks fascinating. I'd be happy to promote it for you on the blog, just let me know.
