    Dear all,

I have recently visited a gellery where I saw an artist who has done Arabic calligraphy on a colored background on paper. Interestingly, the backgound was laid on a slightly thicker sheet of paper and the paints used were oil based. Not sure that the letter stroked were a result of some pen or some kind of flat brush was used for lettering.

If you take a look at some of these examples in the copied link below, you would get an idea what I mean. Well I am not sure if the artist has used oil on canvas, but I guess some of his Calligraphic work is done on paper.

If oil is used on paper, I wonder how could you use conventional bamboo pen to write letters on the color background. Please give your suggestion.

    Hello Syed,
This is an interesting question. To me it looks like this work (in the link you provided) has been created digitally, rather than with oil and brush. I would guess that the artist designed the piece in pencil, and then "filled in" the piece with pixels. I'm open to other interpretations, though!
