This site is absolutely delightful! I have studied Arabic and Urdu and while I am familial with the script and have "played around" with it, I am a novice when it comes to Arabic calligraphy. I am looking for a teacher in or around the New York City area. It would also be wonderful if you could point me towards resources that might benefit a beginner. Many thanks!

    Key Master

    Hello Inadroo,
Take a look at the further reading page (http://calligraphyqalam.com/resources/further-reading.html) and look at the second to the last resource on the right. There are two books of calligraphy exercises that are published by IRCICA in Istanbul, and they would be a good resource for you. What script(s) are you studying? In NYC the Society of Scribes sometimes teaches an introductory class in Arabic Script calligraphy (http://www.societyofscribes.org/workshops.htm)—I would recommend keeping an eye out for that.
    Good luck!
